Often praise songs go around in my head and I can’t help but sing them over and over again all day long. Some songs that get stuck can be annoying, but whenever a praise song is on repeat I think that is God’s way of drawing me close and reminding me to focus on Him. The Revelation Song is what is in my head today. I am not sure it has anything directly related to the devotional on King David, although I am sharing it. The red thread we are following through the Jesse Tree leads right to this, the birth of Christ and eventually Him claiming His throne in heaven as Son of the Most High.
The Revelation Song
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Holy, Holy is He
Sing a new song, to Him who sits on
Heaven’s Mercy Seat
Holy Holy Holy
Is The Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of Kings
You are my Everything
And I will adore You
Clothed in rainbows, of living color
Flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor, strength and
Glory and power be
To You the Only Wise King
Filled with wonder
At the mention of Your Name
Jesus, Your Name is Power
Breath and Living Water
Such a marvelous mystery
Jesse Tree Devotional Day 15 (Crown Symbol)
1 Chronicles 18:14 “So David reigned over all Israel, administering justice, and righteousness for all his people.”
King David is one of the most popular characters in the whole Bible. God Himself claimed David to be a man after His own heart. David was the son of Jesse, from the tribe of Judah, and an ancestor to Jesus Christ. Prophecies in the Bible stated that the Messiah would come down from the line of King David.
David is known as Israel’s greatest King, he reigned over Israel for many years. David was also a songwriter and poet, he wrote many hymns to God expressing almost every feeling known to man. Many people cling to the words he wrote in the book of Psalm during happy or sad times, when they are afraid and need refuge in God’s safety. The collection of songs and poems is a beautiful comfort to many. David wrote those songs so long ago, yet to this day we still refer back to them.
We know that a King even greater than David came to save us from this world and sin. Jesus is our great King.
Do you have a favourite song or poem?
Do you think you could come up with a poem to praise God?
Let’s pray together praising God for all the wonderful things He has done today for us. We can thank Him for our safe travel back and forth to school and work. For our family, and friends. And for all the fun things we get to take part in this holiday season.
