Jesse Tree Devotional | December Advent Day Twenty Two

December 22, 2016

Last night was a bit of a wash out. Annaliese continued to complain about her belly aching and she wanted to go to the hospital. I assumed it was the flu and did not really want to go, but in the back of my mind I worried if it wasn’t I would be upset with myself. So after she threw up in the van, we sat forever in the ER waiting, and then came home after bedtime. Thankfully it was not too serious – the flu, or a really quick tummy upset because this morning she woke up saying she was fine.

After we got Violet onto the bus I baked cupcakes, quickly addressed a few cards, and drove Annaliese into school. She had a Christmas/Goodbye party that she did not want to miss. Our big news of today is that after Christmas break Annaliese will be moving up to grade three, so today was officially her “last day” of grade two. A big moment for her and for us as we watch her excel and join her friends from last year in a new grade. We are so proud of you Annaliese!

Jesse Tree Devotional Day 22 (Heart Symbol)

Luke 1:46-49 “And Mary said: My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour because He has looked with favour on the humble condition of His slave. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed, because the Mighty One has done great things for me, and His name is holy.”

Mary was a young girl engaged to a man named Joseph when the angel Gabriel was sent to tell her what was to happen. When Gabriel found Mary he told her to not be afraid because she had found favour in God’s eyes, then he explained what was to happen. “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will call His name Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord will give Him the throne of His father David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.” When the angel was finished Mary told him she was the Lord’s slave, she was willing to be apart of God’s plan.

God had big plans for Mary, do you think you would be so quick to accept life changing news like she did?

Let’s pray and ask God to help give us courage to fulfill His plans for us. And then we can thank Him for all the fun we had today, and ask Him to keep us safe over our Christmas vacation.
