Soda Cracker Chocolate Bark | Amy-Lynn Recipe Share

April 29, 2016

I had a craving yesterday for a yummy treat I loved growing up. For a long time it was a recipe I would only get to taste when a friend’s mom would make it. But along the way she shared the recipe with my Grandma, and since then we have enjoyed it numerous times. It is delicious and hard to stop at one piece, I have to hide it from everyone (including me) for it to last any length of time in this house!

Total Time
20 min
  1. 1 cup Butter
  2. 1 cup Sugar
  3. 2 Sleeves of Soda Crackers
  4. 1 and 1/4 cups Milk Chocolate Chips
  1. Pre-heat oven to 400F
  2. Line a baking sheet (I use a jelly roll pan) with Aluminum foil. Layer the soda crackers evenly covering the foil.
  3. Bring butter and sugar to a boil over medium heat in a small heavy bottomed sauce pan. Stir continually for 3 minutes.
  4. Pour butter and sugar evenly over the soda crackers, then immediately place the tray into the hot oven for 2 minutes.
  5. Remove tray and sprinkle crackers with chocolate chips. In a few minutes the chocolate should melt so you can spread it across the top evenly. If not, you can always return the tray to the oven for a few seconds to help melt the chocolate.
  6. Let cool (hardest part). I put ours into the freezer or fridge to speed the process. Break it into smaller pieces and enjoy!
  7. I keep ours in Tupperware in the refrigerator.

One thing that is special to me about this recipe is it is written in my Grandma’s handwriting. I purchased my recipe book when I was a young teen and throughout the years have filled it with family favourites and other delicious recipes. She came across it one day and wrote a few on the pages – sweet to have “I love you” messages in her handwriting.

They are easy to make and a yummy treat to share with family and friends, I hope you try them. Please let me know if you do, I would love for them to become a family favourite in your house too!
