I am upstairs drinking coffee and eating breakfast, I have nursed both babies and kissed their sweet chubby cheeks. I am preparing to face the potentially long day, one that started just a few minutes past five am. Maybe this new year will bring some much needed rest to your Mom and Dad, little buddies (at least we can hope).
I was trying to find a verse that seemed fitting to start off a birthday. To be honest I used Google to search for a “Birthday Bible Verse”, and clicked on the first link “Top Seven Verses For a Birthday Card”. Oh the age we live in, almost every bit of information right at the switch of a tab. That doesn’t necessarily mean lack of relationship, only that in a moment I am transported to a verse and have a need met in the midst of my busy schedule. Opening my Bible now to read that verse, and then pray over our boys.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
Awesome Heavenly Father,
This morning we lift up Sam and Ben before You. With thanksgiving we praise You for each of their lives, and the gift that they are in our family. Thank you for giving us the privilege of raising them, and trusting us with the responsibility that comes with that. Thank you for this past year, for the plans You had for us before time began, and the protection and love You have shown us. We trust You with the plan You have still for us as a family. May we remember that trust not only in the good happy times, but also lean into you when troubles arise.
I ask that You would please give us strength when we are weak, and tired. That You would refresh our spirits to be the parents You have called us to be. That You would be the light these children see in us. So much of this life we cannot do without Your strength in us, please help us to remember that You are the one to be praised.
I ask that You protect Sam and Ben, from influences and desires of this world that are not destined for You. I pray that you prepare their hearts to be open to receiving You, so that when Your Saving Grace is presented to them they readily accept it. I pray that when Your Spirit enters them, that reflection shines so brightly every soul who meets them will know it is You in their hearts. I ask that You would fill them with a pure desire for you, that they will seek You daily with their whole heart. That they would then be an example to others of faith, and trust in the One True Living God.
God I praise You, and thank You for the ability to come before You and pray bold prayers over these boys. Thank You for being ever faithful, and the Solid Rock we can lean on.
In Your Son’s Holy and Precious Name.
