Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
We have taken some time the past month to catch up on life. Focusing our attention on a few family matters that have in turn pushed the button on future plans and possible changes in our home. We are not quite sure where God is leading us, but trusting His plan is our goal – easier said than done. Stress, worry and a desire for instant answers create swirling thoughts that repeat over and over. Walking in faith by giving up the control to a qualified God is something I struggle deeply with, a born control freak and girl who likes absolutely no surprises – nothing uncertain.
This past winter stuck in a study I did not enjoy, I shelved my quiet time and allowed my life to get busier. Balance is something I lack greatly, I tend to jump in with both feet and not look back. Either I am hitting it out of the park staying on top of everything in our home, posting a picture a day to Instagram, writing blog posts, editing vlogs, or I am calling family daily, chatting via messages too much, binge watching The OC, detoxing one week and filling up on whatever I want the next week. Seriously my life is like a bag of bits and bites, a mix but you never actually get a good variety.
I have tried numerous things – this blog actually being one, having dates and setting post goals. After I posted about reading the “Yes” book I started to say yes to everything. I ended up out at a parent council meeting, taking on a role in our Bible Study group, potentially speaking at the end session, and I can’t quite remember all the other things. I am freaking myself out, causing panic attacks and ending up stuck in the bathroom. Ha, maybe the “Say Yes” idea isn’t for me.
All this to say that often I am scared to jump back in after missing a Week in Review post, or embarrassed because I couldn’t keep up editing and posting. The truth is though if I would spend less time worried and more time trusting God’s leading I wouldn’t struggle to stay on top of all the things I want to do. If I prioritized a quiet time to study and pray over His word, I think the sense of what to say yes to and what to say no to would be easier than sitting worried all day.
We had an estimate done for potential work to be done on our home (I will share more once things are finalized), on the top of the page the contractor wrote “Trust God”. He reminded me that if the plan is of God, He will honour and bless it. A great reminder for all things in my life. God has laid some big dreams in my heart, I don’t need to sit in worry and feel alone – I can reach up to Him in prayer, share with others, and trust He will make His plan clear to us. Thankful for a God who cares about every detail, nothing in my heart is too small and nothing is too large for Him.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
